The Mojave Desert, usually a bare and barren landscape was brought to life in 1997 with the realisation of what most considered an impossible and inconceivable concept. Shell and Ferrari’s vision? To refuel a Ferrari Formula One car, at 150mph, by an aircraft!
A selection of staff from Shell and Ferrari’s expert teams were assembled to embark upon a project those within motorsport and aeronautics thought unachievable. As the sun bore down upon the rugged and abrasive terrain in the desert in Arizona, Shell and Ferrari began working frantically to ensure a timeless and unforgettable feat.
As the aircraft circled overhead with Shell V-Power the precious cargo on board, the Ferrari F310B sped down the expanse of desert that stretched out before it. Even with meticulous planning and expertise from both the Shell and Ferrari teams, calculations had to be perfect to ensure that this visual display of their technical partnership was successful.
The scenes that were so eloquently captured in this timeless and powerful ad from Shell truly represent a partnership, which has for over 60 years strived to the forefront of innovation and aspiration culminating in achievement of truly the highest level.
With no CGI, the footage is as pure and refined as the products Shell supplies to both the Ferrari team and road car users. Experience the thrill and adrenaline of the F1 pilot first hand as the refueling pipe leaves the aircraft destined for the F310B. Watch the clip to fully appreciate the daring display, where precision and ability is the key to success.

This is amazing!
I always like these Shell commercials, funny, beatifal and they don’t throw the product right in your face the whole time.
Can you post the Ferrari through the years commercial with Shell please? thanks …
You mean the one with the cars from 50s to 90s there? Well you can find it somewhere on the internet, but I can see that the editors here will have no problem with adding that here.
We will try to make this happend here, it’s a little busy right now, had to work some stuff that don’t have any connection with the portal anyway, so after that you will see more good articles here.
Just wondering, how many tries did it take to finnish this
To be honest I really don’t know, but they sure didn’t make it the first time
