After we gave you the news about the Nissan’s accomplishment at the Nurburgring, there has been much talk about this record breaking run, and an official Nissan Press Release has been put out to the public. The Nissan factory team celebrates, as they have beaten the old record, set in April 2008. The actual car that was used in setting the laptime, was a base model, Silver, Japanese specification car shod with Spec-V wheels and Dunlop tires.

After the run on the first day, and after all the media havoc has ended, the guys over at Nissan did their best to put even more valuable seconds of their lap time. But in the rain fall that got at the end of the day, it was not made possible for them to complete their task. But non the less this is a great achievement for the guys at Nissan, and in this occasion we would like to congratulate them for their great success on beating the old record.

The official Nissan Press Release:

April 16, 2009 NISSAN GT-R SNARES NEW NURBURGRING RECORD

The all-conquering Nissan GT-R supercar has set another lap record at the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany. A Japanese specification GT-R, running on Dunlop tyres with RAYS forged alloy wheels (V-spec equipment) recorded a blistering 7min 27.56 secs yesterday.

Driven by Nissan’s Chief test driver Toshio Suzuki (who recently demonstrated the GT-R to the Australian media in Sydney at Eastern Creek Raceway) piloted the performance coupe.

Although dry, the track surface grip was impaired by dust and sand. Under the direction of Nissan GT-R Chief Vehicle Engineer, Kazutoshi Mizuno, and depending on conditions, the Nissan test team will attempt another record at the ‘Ring tomorrow.

Well I don’t really have a clue beacuse I’m not a worker at Nissan so there is no way of telling that, but we will sure have some news here or from Nissan soon …

There shouldn’t be any problems with that, they really don’t have nothing to argue with this record because there were huys rom Porsche present at the time on the track, with a couple of news crews so that is all there is to be said really, it’s completely covered and I don’t think that anyone can protest.

Argh … sorry the quote didn’t get as planned, I was reffering to lychee and his response here.

I think that the official video will be coming shortly after the dust had settled down.

You mean that Porsche had a driver who couldn’t get the full potential from a GTR and then they complained about it all the time?? :P

  • Vanja K. said:

Haha well put it there, if they can’t unleash the full potential of the car, they should think some time about their drivers, and their driving skills :)

  • AMGFan said:

Nice result from Nissan on the ring, don’t be a fool and think that they didn’t drive it in that time :)

  • Industrial Thinking said:

I must agree, whoever is thinking different is just being plain stupid there :)

  • Vanja K. said:

Ahahahaha … you put it right there, not really nicely but right anyway …
