Porsche Considering a 4-door Panamera Convertible?

While we don’t see that many 4-door convertibles on the road these days, one thing really bothers us in this case. The long Porsche saloon car, which hit the streets and rose different opinions, is in it’s way a sucessful model for the company. But in the case of making it a convertible? Well, let’s just say there are a few issues that need to be resolved here.

First of all, the car isn’t a small Porsche coupe like the Cayman or a 911 for that matter. It’s a big 4-door saloon car, making it into range of the Mercedes-Benz S Class, the BMW’s 7series or the Audi’s A8 models. One big car, to be simple about it. Making it rigid and with enough strength without the roof, will probably be a large issue with this car. And almost certainly, you have to include the added weight.

One issue is really going through our minds. What will happen to the long awaited Porsche 928 car? The drawings, renderings and such that we saw for the last year, will probably never hit the market. If Porsche is thinking clearly about this, it will probably get into production, as we know that nothing in this company comes without a serious plan.

We don’t want to judge this information or the car this soon. Porsche did manage to surprise us in the past, with models that were breaking the usual standards in both technology and looks. We don’t see that this couldn’t be the same. We will have to wait and see the car, when more details get released. There is more information at AutoCar so be sure to check that out!
