BMW M5 pre-production first drive by Chris Harris

EVO Magazine’s Chris Harris got his hands on a pre-production BMW M5 for a nice review. The latest incarnation of the saloon sports car is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine, delivering unknown performance figures.

But as the official official response to the question of power output is: ‘Do you really think we would give it less than an X6M?’ there is certainly not too much to worry about. BMW X6M has 547bhp for those that weren’t paying attention when we talked about this.

There is a short video with some sideways action by Chris Harris on a frozen Swedish lake, with some insights on the pre-production model in the BMW F10M review on EVO Magazine.

But there is a part we liked very much: “The MDM (M Driving Mode) brings a higher threshold DSC intervention that requires steering correction from the driver, or you spin, It works brilliantly. Switch it all off and you have a circa 560bhp, rear-wheel-drive saloon with an LSD. If you can’t enjoy that, you’re a wally.”

We certainly can’t wait to get some real life impressions of the car, design and performance levels. But until then, be sure to check out the video after the jump and head over to EVO Magazine for the twin-turbo V8 BMW M5 review, pictures and video.
