BMW Ring Taxi talks come to an end with a twist
For the past few days much ink and keyboard work has been used to further discuss the BMW Ring Taxi and it’s future. After some articles by both GTSpirit and BMWBlog on the same matter, it’s finally confirmed that the BMW Ring Taxi will return by the guys over at Bimmerpost. But that’s not all! There is a twist to this story!
For the past few years BMW M5 was the vehicle of choice for the above mentioned purpose. Driven by Sabine Schmitz the Ring Taxi was one of the few chances fans could witness and experience what it’s like to be driven around the “Green Hell” by a professional racing car driver. For a small fee that is!
But rumors heading for the internet automotive blogs for the past few days were very dark. The demise of the popular service was almost certain. But thankfully, that won’t be the case! People at Bimmerpost contacted BMW M to get their official info:
“The BMW Ring-Taxi will continue in 2011 and use the BMW M3 this year. It will be driven by the instructors from the BMW Driving Experience program – much like it used to be in past years.”
As you can notice, the main twist to this story is the introduction of the BMW M3 instead of the BMW M5 as the vehicle of choice. Maybe the availability of the F10 M5 was the primary reason, we are still months before it hits the showrooms, but we can say that everyone can be happy with the selection of the vehicle.
The only drawback is that Sabine Schmitz won’t be the driver on these runs. That is really a downside to the whole info for anyone that enjoyed her and what she did!
We can only let you know to follow the news on the BMW Ring Taxi website, check out what they have planned and contact them for further information, tickets, running times and things like that.
