Hello To The Aston Martin V12 Zagato
Say hello to my little friend, err, no, say hello to the Aston Martin V12 Zagato, which has been finally revealed. Officially revealed that is. Making its debut at the 2012 Kuwait Concours d’ Elegance next week, this is one vehicle that can be named “the ultimate Vantage” which was dubbed as the name for it by many in the automotive world.
Based on the V12 Vantage this pinnacle of the model range is a celebration of half a century since the introduction of the DB4GT Zagato which is another prime example of the cooperation the Italian coach builder Zagato has with Aston Martin.
“Our relationship with Zagato stretches back more than 50 years. Together in that time we have created a series of very special cars,” said Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez. “The first – the DB4GT Zagato – is a true icon: fast, beautiful and incredibly desirable. In the V12 Zagato I believe we have captured the spirit of that car and combined it with a confident twist of modernity to give it a character all of its own.”
With a painstaking process that takes approximately 2,000 man-hours to complete the V12 Zagato, every customer will be satisfied with the end result. Just like the One-77, the V12 Zagato is constructed from a combination of hand crafted aluminium and carbon fibre. The bonnet, signature ‘double-bubble’ roof and doors are hand-crafted aluminium, while the front and rear fenders, door sills and boot lid surround are made from carbon fibre.
With the finishing being done in the same dedicated area as the One-77 quality (as with all Aston Martin vehicles) shouldn’t be an issue. Take into regard the 100 hours to complete the paint job and you’ll be even more impressed. Four unique colours have been created for the V12 Zagato: Scintilla Silver, Alloro Green, Alba Blue and Diavolo Red adhering to all the possible choices one may have for a limited-run model like this.
This is simply put a work of art! Exposed elements of carbon fiber can be seen everywhere, sophisticated, sculptural surfaces and jewel-like details, an array of bespoke components, hand-stitched quilting in the interior, satin-finish carbon fibre on the dashboard and centre stack, piano black accents and satin black rotary switchgear in the interior completed by bespoke details that any and every owner would and will appreciate.
We still don’t have any technical information regarding performance, but since this is a V12 powered Aston Martin, where the regular (if we can call it that) Vantage produces 517PS (510bhp) at 6,500RPM and 570Nm (420lb ft) of torque at 5,750RPM we are not that keen on the idea this will be any slower than that! On the contrary!
The work of art from Zagato and Aston Martin goes on sale right now, priced at £330,000 (plus local taxes) it is a hefty one, but for anyone with taste in cars and a bank account strong enough to support the hobby, this is a pretty good choice. First deliveries of this astonishing vehicle are set for Autumn this year.
World premiere is at the already mentioned Kuwait Concours d’ Elegance on February 15th, while the European premiere is scheduled for the Geneva Salon International in March 2012. We can’t wait to see some more images of the V12 Zagato, since e only received three of them, so you’ll have to feast your eyes on those for the time being.
