New Maserati GranTurismo Sport Previewed
Maserati has previewed the new GranTurismo Sport ahead of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, which is due to start in just a few days in Geneva, Switzerland. Even though we got some tickets to attend the show, we are still contemplating on the possibility of MCP staff to attend it, since that means less money for beer next month. Decisions, decisions.
But, back to the Maserati now. The new model, which is due to replace the GranTurismo S variant in the lineup, will probably be not that different from the model talked about, but it allows Maserati to market it as a completely new vehicle when it goes on sale. But it sure does look good! And judging by past Maserati’s, it will sound extatically awesome!
New Maserati GranTurismo Sport is powered by a 4.7-liter V8 engine that produces 460hp (343kW / 466PS) and (guessing now) sweet noise from its four exhaust pipes dominating the rear end. That is 10 horsepower more than the GranTurismo S which it is due to replace. Even though the full spec sheets is yet to be released, we believe this should be enough for under 5 second 0-100kph (0-62mph) times.
We are expecting a few more bits and pieces of information ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, but we will certainly get you the full press release as soon as Maserati reveals the new model. And this blueish paint scheme on the GranTurismo is just sick!
