Sergio Pininfarina, Sports Car Designer, Dies at 85

A sad day has arrived for automotive enthusiasts around the world. It was confirmed by a Ferrari spokesperson that designer Sergio Pininfarina has passed away in his home at the age of 85 years old.
For more than 5 decades, Pininfarina’s design firm crafted some of the most elegant, sophisticated and fastest cars we know today. More than just Ferrari, the firm also designed vehicles for Mercedes Benz, Chevrolet, Maserati and numerous other major brands.
Notable models designed by Pininfarina included the 1952 Ferrari 250, 1963 Chevrolet Corvette, 1994 Ferrari F355, 2002 Ferrari Enzo, and the recent 2009 Ferrari 458 Italia (although the list goes on and on).
It always a disappointing day to hear of true innovators in the automotive industry passing away. But, we all know that the mark he left behind will carry over for years to come. RIP.
