MINI Countryman John Cooper Works

Mini John Cooper Works’ for everyone! Or at least for those that fancy a pocket rocket like this. Or these? We didn’t even have a break to turn around and sip some beers when Mini released info about their Countryman souped up by JCW, same as the Mini JCW we talked about on Friday.

Mini Countryman JCW comes with an ALL4 all wheel drive system, 1.6L turbocharged engine which delivers a maximum output of 150kW (218HP) and a peak torque of 280 Newton metres / 207 lb-ft, same as its little brother the Mini Cooper. If you wanna get some more, an overboost option is available, where the countryman receives 300Nm / 221 lb-ft, for that additional kick in the butt getting you more driving thrills.

With the usual performance thing John Cooper Works did to the Mini Cooper JCW, they did it to the Countryman as well. The running of this car is really fun since the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) happens in 7.0 seconds. Not bad at all!

The JCW Countryman is offered with a standard six-speed manual, but in a first for John Cooper Works model, buyers will be able to select a six-speed automatic transmission. We’d opt out for the automatic. Simply because we don’t see how a manual could be more exciting in a car like this. There you go, we said it!

We got two sets of info from Mini about both versions, the Mini Cooper JCW and Mini Countryman JCW, all considering power, peak torque, acceleration and consumption. Small discrepancies but we don’t fancy them as important. We are more impressed with the car’s looks, 18 inch wheels and sports car cockpit ambience, truly Mini like, meaning definitely entertaining to the point.

Here’s a ton of images, plus we are expecting to get more pricing info, as well as availability info later on. Quite an impressive move by Mini in regards to the new high-performance models, which will certainly be followed by a large fan base around the world!
