This beautiful Azzuro California finished Ferrari 458 Italia comes from HRE Wheels. Featuring a set of their HRE Classic 305 wheels, this is one of the most beautiful builds we’ve seen this year. The vehicle featured is currently the best performing road legal Ferrari 458 today. Basically, it’s a hardcore version of the much-famed supercar, but more catered to the average luxury supercar owner, than those of a racecar driver.
There are numerous distinctions of the 458 Speciale against the “normal” Ferrari 458 Italia. For example, it comes with new forged wheels, vented bonnet, finned side sills, taller rear spoiler and redesigned bumpers. The engine was also updated, where its power has been increased to 445 kW (597 hp) at 9,000 rpm and to 540Nm (398 lb·ft) of torque at 6,000 rpm. Not a bad upgrade, to say the least.
Electronic systems were updated too, introducing side slip angle control (SSC) to improve car control on the limit. SSC performs instant-to-instant analysis of the car’s side slip, comparing it with the target value and then optimizing both torque management (via integration with F1-Trac traction control) and torque distribution between the two wheels (via integration with the E-Diff electronic differential). The weight/power ratio (1,290 kg dry, 1,395 kg at the curb, 90 less than the standard 458) is equal to 2.13 kg/cv, sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds (0-125 mph in 9.1 seconds with a response time of just 0.060 seconds). Ferrari declared a Fiorano test track lap time of 1:23.5, only 0.5 seconds slower than the F12berlinetta. Lateral acceleration now reaches 1.33 g and provides a great showcase of how well this Ferrari handles as well.
You cannot really do much to this vehicle to enhance its high-performance nature or advanced aerodynamically optimized looks. For the most part, an addition of aftermarket wheels is the only thing that enhances this vehicle in a significant way. These HRE Classic 305 wheels will certainly not be up to everybody’s visual standards, but they add that interesting oldschool look to this modern supercar.
